Bloomsburg Lacrosse Falls to Lock Haven

Box Score

SHIPPENSBURG -- The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team fell 11-6 to Shippensburg University on a windy Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match-up at Shippensburg.

The Red Raiders took a 1-0 lead just 2:55 into the contest on the first of three first half goals from Kristen Crutchfield. However, Bloomsburg's Angie Picciotti (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) answered back with a goal at 6:00 to knot the score at 1-1. In the tenth minute, Crutchfield scored again for Shippensburg, but once more the Huskies tied it up a 2-2, this time on a goal from Kimberly Springman (Downingtown/Bishop Shanahan).

After that, it was all Shippensburg in the first half. The Red Raiders scored the next four goals to take a 6-2 lead at the half.

In the second, Crutchfield continued her assault on the Huskies' net with a 32nd minute goal to push the Shippensburg lead to 7-2. Two minutes later, Bloomsburg's Brittany Wilkins (Barto/Boyertown) scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Meg Taylor (West Chester/West Chester) to cut the Shippensburg lead back to 7-3, but that was the closest the Huskies would get as the Red Raiders took the game 11-6.

Shippensburg's (4-4, 3-3 PSAC) Crutchfield finished with five goals while goalie Lauren Marron stopped 11 shots.

For Bloomsburg (3-5, 3-3 PSAC), Picciotti and Springman finished with two goals each while Wilkins and Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton) each scored once in the loss. In goal, Bridget Maenner (Philadelphia/Little Flower) saved seven shots.

The Huskies are back in action on April 10th when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a 4:00 p.m. game.
